Kara
Bailey graduated Magna Cum Laude from Oklahoma Baptist University
with a Bachelor of Musical Arts degree in piano and a minor in education.
She is currently a first year piano pedagogy graduate student at
TCU where she is studying under Harold Martina. Kara began playing
the piano at a young age, taking lessons from her mother, Kristina
Roberts, and participating in local and state festivals in Oklahoma.
She was granted a piano scholarship to OBU where she received instruction
from Dr. Carol Bell. She participated in the Oklahoma Music Teacher’s
Association Collegiate Auditions, performed on weekly recitals, and
gave a solo recital at the conclusion of her senior year. As a part
of her undergraduate work, Kara took pedagogy classes and began teaching
private lessons through the OBU Preparatory Department. She taught
a group piano class for one year and taught private lessons for three
years. While she was teaching at OBU, her students participated in
local and state festivals and received superior ratings. In addition
to her piano teaching, she assisted with Kindermusik classes in the
Early Childhood Music Program at OBU. Kara is a member of Music Teachers
National Association, Oklahoma Music Teachers Association, Sigma
Alpha Iota, and Pi Kappa Lambda.
