Joanna Tushara Fernandes is currently pursuing
her Masters in Music, Voice Performance at Texas Christian University.
She graduated with a B.A. in Fine Arts (Music Major in Voice) from
Trinity Western University, British Columbia, Canada. She obtained
two diplomas- DipABRSM and LRSM (Licentiate of the Royal Schools
of Music) in Voice performance from the Associated Board of the Royal
Schools of Music, UK.
At Trinity Western University, she was part of the Chamber Choir
and Chamber Singers, singing on numerous occasions with the Vancouver
Symphony Orchestra. She sang with the Vancouver Chamber Singers as
a student representative, under the Focus program. In Singapore,
Joanna was a member of the Singapore Lyric Opera.
In 1996 and 1997, she was awarded the The Hilla Khursedji Memorial
Award for the most talented Music student in India examined by the
Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, UK. She was awarded
The Admiral O.S. Dawson Rolling Trophy for the most promising music
candidate, Grades 6 to 8 in the Southern Centers of the Associated
Board for the year 1996. She also received the Hedy King Robinson
award for Distinction in Theory of music from the Associated Board
of the Royal Schools of Music, UK.
Joanna has taught Voice, Flute and Piano at Hebron International School,
India and Early Childhood Music at the Seimpi School of Music, Singapore.
As a Graduate Assistant at TCU, she teaches Voice to Undergraduate
students and is a Graduate Opera Assistant. At the TCU Prep School
she teaches Voice and is a Teaching Assistant in the Early Childhood
Classes.
