Janis Janes
Early Childhood Music Assistant Coordinator
817-257-6134
Music
has always been an integral part of Janis' life. From the family
sing-a-longs to classical music being played on the stereo, she grew
up in a household filled with music. Her parents demonstrated their
love of music by playing various instruments. It was natural that
Janis began piano lessons at the age of eight. She then received
further musical training in piano and vocal studies at Harding University
and The University of Texas at Arlington.
After teaching private piano lessons for 11 years, Janis observed a
TCU Early Childhood Music demonstration class in 1998. She received
Early Childhood Music training in the Spring and Summer of 1999 with
plans of integrating the same concepts into her piano lessons. She
also offered Early Childhood Music classes in her studio in Mansfield,
Texas. She has been teaching Early Childhood Music at TCU since January
2001. Janis is a registered Musikgarten teacher and a certified Music
Together teacher. She is an active member of the Early Childhood Music
and Movement Association and Fort Worth Music Teachers Association.
