Leanne Kirkham has been Director of the TCU Music Preparatory Division since 1981. A native of Dallas, she holds Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from TCU and has completed 56 hours toward her Ph.D in Music Education with a major in Piano Pedagogy from the University of North Texas. She has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in Piano Pedagogy, Keyboard Literature and Class Piano through the School of Music at TCU. Her students have won many honors and awards at local and regional piano competitions, and she is a frequent adjudicator at contests and festivals, including the MTNA and TMTA Piano Performance Competitions. She is a nationally certified teacher of music through Music Teachers National Association, and she has presented sessions at MTNA, TMTA, TMEA and numerous area Music Teachers Associations. She has served as President, local and district contest chairman, and on the Board of Directors, of Fort Worth Music Teachers Association, who named her Teacher of the Year in 1992. In addition to her administrative duties she teaches piano and piano readiness at TCU Music Prep.
