Guillermo
Martinez earned both the Bachelor of Music and the Master of Music
Degree in Organ Performance from Texas Christian University, where
he was a student of Emmet G. Smith. He was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship
to study organ with Johannes Geffert at the Robert Schumann Conservatory
in Duesseldorf, Germany, for the 1988-1989 school year. He has been
on the faculty of the Texas Christian University Music Preparatory
Division since 1991, where he has taught private piano and organ
and developed the music technology program as Coordinator of Technology
Resources.
In 1994 he joined the faculty of the TCU School of Music, teaching
class piano and theory; during the 1995-1996 academic year, he was
Interim Professor of Organ and Church Music/University Organist.
He was appointed Coordinator of Class Piano in June of 2001. He has
also taught for the TCU Department of Ballet and Modern Dance since
Spring of 1999. He is also organist at Peace Lutheran Church in Hurst,
Texas.
As a performer, Guillermo Martinez has played recitals in Texas, Oklahoma,
New York, and Germany. He is a member of the Fort Worth Chapter of
the American Guild of Organists, ATMI, and TMEA. He has presented workshops
in both organ and music technology and has had performing ensembles
at the local, state, and national meetings and conventions of Music
Teachers National Association. As a member of Texas Music Educators
Association, he has served as Keyboard Chairman for the College Division.
Mr. Martinez also judges piano festivals and competitions for various
local and state music associations.
