Arjola
Miruku began playing the piano at age seven and made her debut on
national television in her birth country, Albania, at age ten. With
her family, Arjola moved to the U.S. in 1997 not speaking any English. While
adapting to a new language and culture, she excelled in piano as
well as academics graduating Valedictorian of her high school, Douglas
Anderson School of the Arts.
Arjola graduated Magna Cum Laude from Rollins College in Winter Park,
Florida where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Piano Performance. There, she
was a student of Dr. Gary Wolf. Under his teaching, she was the two time
winner of Wednesday Music Club Competition for Piano and Voice, and preformed
the MacDowell Concerto No. 2 with the Rollins College Orchestra in April 2008. In
her undergraduate, Arjola was a chapter founding member and President of Sigma
Alpha Iota Music International Fraternity for Women. Her interest in classical
music also led her to create and host the weekly program of piano music called
PianoForte on WPRK- 91.5 FM Radio. She has appeared in master classes with
Andre Watts, Daniel Pollack, Frederic Chiu, and Mordecai Shehori and has performed
in various venues around Northeast and Central Florida.
In 2006, Arjola spent a semester in London, England interning with
St. Martin-in-the-Fields concentrating on classical music business. While in London, she continued
her piano lessons at the Royal Academy of Music with Christopher Elton. Arjola
is currently pursuing a Master’s of Music Degree in Piano Pedagogy at TCU
and continuing her piano studies with Mr. John Owings. She holds a Graduate
Assistantship where she aids in instructing undergraduate class piano, Pedagogy
Laboratory Program, computer lab and private teaching for the TCU Music Preparatory
Division. Arjola is a Member of the Music Teacher’s National Association
as well as Fort Worth Music Teacher’s Association.
