Heather Muskrat has a BM in piano performance from Baylor University.  She is currently a first-year graduate student in piano pedagogy at TCU, and hopes to open her own piano studio after she completes her Masters degree.  Heather has studied under Ruth Pitts, Roger Keys, Jane Abbott-Kirk, and is currently studying under Harold Martina.  In high school Heather competed in local and state competitions and received a gold medal for twelve straight years on the TMTA state theory exam.  She received a music scholarship to Baylor where she continued to perform in weekly recitals and gave a solo recital at the end of her junior and senior years.  She also took pedagogy classes and taught private lessons as well as group classes for two years in the Piano Lab Program (PLP) at Baylor.   Heather began teaching when she was fifteen years old under the supervision of her mother, Becky Ward, who is a local piano teacher in Waco, Texas.  While she was teaching in Waco, her students participated in local contests and recitals and took TMTA state theory test every year.  A few of her students have also participated in local piano ensemble groups that perform at the Texas Music Teachers Convention that is held every year in June.  She loves teaching children, and her goal is to instill a love of music in all of her students.
