A
native of Bogotá, Colombia, Santiago Páez came to the
United States to study flute with Mary Karen Clardy at the University
of North Texas, where he obtained his Bachelor of Music cum laude.
He then completed a Masters degree from Texas Christian University
under Karen Adrian (Fort Worth Symphony). At TCU, he has been on
the staff of the Music Preparatory Program since 1998. During his
formative years, Mr. Paez was a member of the Colombian Youth Orchestra,
and the Sewanee Music Festival Orchestra, at the University of the
South in Sewanee, Tennessee for two consecutive summers.
Santiago Paez has served as Band Director for numerous Private schools
and as an assistant to the band program at Midlothian ISD. He also
taught elementary music for two years at Fort Worth ISD. His “Singing Dragons Choir” participated
in the Elementary Music Festival held at the Will Rodgers auditorium in Fort
Worth, in the spring of 2008.
After obtaining level one certification in the Kodály methodology, Mr.
Páez currently teaches vocal and elementary music at the North Texas Elementary
School of the Arts, and is the private flute instructor for Springtown ISD.
As a private teacher he has been very successful in preparing students
for UIL competitions and performances. He is an active member of
the National Flute Association, The Texas Flute Society and the Texas
Music Educators Association.
Santiago Paez is also a freelance performer throughout the Metroplex.
He lives in Fort Worth with his wife Michelle and daughter Sofia.
