Athena Shepard, Ph.D. received her B.S. in Violin Performance, Zoology, and Moleculr biology from the University of Wisconsin at Madison, Madison, WI and her Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth, Fort Worth, TX. She has done Suzuki violin teacher training at DFWWOW. She began her Suzuki training at age 5 under Margery Aber and graduated from all 10 Suzuki Violin Books at age 15. Like Suzuki, she believes strongly that all children have talent, and that the main purpose of teachin violin is to develop a fine human being with musical sensitivity and a good heart. She particularly enjoys teaching young beginners. When not teaching, she enjoys learning music of all genres, such as movie themes, fiddle pieces, and popular love songs. She is also a freelance violinist for weddings, parties, and special occasions.
