Private Lessons Policies
Missed Lessons / Makeup Policy
Make-up lessons will be given only for lessons missed due to illness or family emergency. Lessons missed because of parties, vacations, sports events or other social activities will not be made up. Due to limited studio space and schedule openings, we must have a strict policy concerning makeup lessons. Regarding private lessons, make-ups due to illness or family emergency will be given only if we receive notifications of the absence by at least 12:00 noon of the lesson day. This enables the teacher to schedule other make-ups or rearrange lessons in order to avoid large scheduling gaps. Students may request up to two make-ups per semester or one in the summer. Make-up lessons will be offered based on the discretion and availability of the instructor.
Regarding computer lab, every effort will be made to reschedule missed computer labs, but make-ups must be worked around the existing computer lab schedule.

Our piano, instrumental and voice students are expected to practice six days each week or an equivalent amount. Recommended daily practice:
Parental encouragement and support is needed for careful and consistent practice sessions. Both student and parent will be extremely proud of the rapid progress made when daily practice becomes a habit. Students become more stimulated by music and more motivated to practice as they realize how much they can accomplish.
Regular recital participation is recommended, with each piano student playing in at least one weeknight recital during the school year in addition to the formal recital ending each semester. Most weekly piano recitals will be held on Thursday evenings at 7:00 pm and programs will be limited to 30 students. Recitals for voice/instrumental students will be held at the end of each school semester as well as midway through the semester if there is sufficient demand. Students are expected to stay until the end of the recital.
A panel of teachers will evaluate piano students during the last week of each long semester. This evaluation occurs in lieu of a sixteenth lesson. A written evaluation will be given to parents, with copies kept by the teacher and Prep office. An unsatisfactory evaluation will jeopardize the student's place in the program. Voice/instrumental students will receive a written evaluation from the instructor by the end of each school semester.
Cancellation Policy/Termination of Lessons
TCU Fall/Spring enrollment is for 16 weeks and summer for 8 weeks. Only new students may receive a prorated tuition amount if they begin lessons after the session has started. Registration fees are non-refundable and no tuition refunds will be given after the session start date. Refunds will be considered only in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of the Director of the Music Preparatory Division. Lessons can be terminated due to insufficient preparation or excessive absences.
Please feel free to call us with questions, suggestions, or information concerning your child's progress. We will work closely with you to make your child's music education the finest available.
